WHAT WE DO

We are a world class resource dedicated to the repair of compressor blades. We operate multiple facilities that combine state-of-the-art techniques for welding, machining, and profiling with advanced process and production systems. The result is precision repairs completed in industry leading turn times. The revolutionary facilities of Pacific Aerodynamic utilize state-of-the-art equipment, technology and mechanization to repair over one million compressor airfoils annually while setting the trend in the industry for quality service and turn around time. Computerized manufacturing management systems and comprehensive IT tools are being utilized so we may ensure the hundreds of orders that are processed, prioritized and executed with the precision that has come to be associated with our reputation. Pacific Aerodynamic is able to achieve this due to the dedicated and diversified workforce comprising of highly skilled technicians, engineers and management staff who are completely focused on delighting our customers. To constantly enhance our productivity and promote a culture of continuous improvement, Lean Six Sigma is a way of life.

BLADE REPAIRS

Pacific Aerodynamic maintains a leadership position in turnkey compressor blade repairs. In particular, we specialize in computerized inspection and recontouring for compressor airfoils. Designed by the industry's leading engineers, the GK5 Process is available for the CF6, CFM56, JT3D, JT8D, JT9D, JT12 and PT6 engines.

WELD RESTORATION

With Pacific Aerodynamic's innovative and Federal Aviation Administration approved weld process, which includes GK5 precision-measurement, short-chord blades are given a second life. Through a fine tuned process at the hands of experienced and highly trained welders, compressor blades are brought back to maximum chord and length dimensions as specified by the engine overhaul manual. The end result is an optimal chord and length restored blade that provides improved performance at a fraction of the cost for a new blade. This service is offered as a tip-only weld or a triple edge weld (aerodynamic boundary control).

GK5 PROCESS

The engineers who pioneered the computerized compressor blade recontouring process call Pacific Aerodynamic home. The process which has revolutionized the industry compares 48 distinct measurements on an in-service blade to those of the ideal airfoil shape. Particular attention is paid to the leading edge radius and orientation because optimal entry and exit angles ensure maximum airflow efficiency. The GK5 lists the differences between the in-service blade and the ideal airfoil shape for all 48 dimensions on a computer printout. Our expert inspectors refer to this summary to determine if and how a blade can be recontoured for optimum efficiency

WELDING

We perform high-quality TIG welding per American Welding Society Standards.

Our skilled operators can weld mild, and stainless steels, as well as aluminum , copper and inconel for demanding customers in the aerospace, defense, electronics, medical, and transportation industries, to name only a few.

We can also provide design services as well as machining and assembly services, we can weld prototype as well as high volume runs, we can also shot and/or glass bead peen as well as deburr and polish your parts. Vacuum heat treat is also avilable.

VACUUM HEAT-TREAT

Heat-treating in the presence of air can cause oxidation problems that are virtually eliminated by performing the operation in a vacuum atmosphere. It gives the ability to precisely control heat-up and quench rates, minimizing heat-induced distortion. The results are clean, shiny parts which require comparatively little post-treatment finishing and cleaning. Vacuum processing preserves surface chemistry, preventing oxidation and decarburization. Heat Treating is used to stress relieve and age parts so they can reached desired metallurgical properties, usually after welding.

In addition, Vacuum Heat Treating allows you to change cooling rates easily, even within a single cycle, thereby enabling gas-quenching operations that can produce full hardness in steels. Contrast that with liquid quenching, where the cooling rate is fixed and multiple baths are required to achieve the same results as a single gas-quenching operation.

Pacific Aerodynamic, Inc. is proud of its ability to serve customers ranging from "job shop" toolmakers to manufacturers with high volume production requirements. Vacuum processing is a major focus of our business, providing customers with unique benefits. Our prices are the lowest in the industry with the best turn time. We have the equipment and support services required to process from single piece to high volume quantities of stainless, high speed, super alloy and tool steels. Our customers include manufacturers and machining service providers within the aerospace, automotive, heavy equipment, tool & die, computer and medical products industries.
